Camp North End looks to go big on food
Four food stalls will be the next to open on the campus

Camp North End has already announced that Leah & Louise, a restaurant from Greg and Subrina Collier, and a second location of Free Range Brewing will open on its Statesville Road campus. However, there are many more food and beverage concepts coming to the 76-acre former Army grounds.
According to Camp North End development director Tommy Mann, when the next phases of construction are complete, the plan is to have around a dozen restaurants or bars operating. Up next are four food stalls built along the Graham Street side of the property.
The food stalls are all being handed off with a gas range and sinks already in place. Like all of the spaces at Camp North End, the stalls have been thoughtfully designed, with three of them using reclaimed materials from the buildings as the facades. One of them, for example, uses old fire doors; another is made using wooden planks that were removed from one building’s exterior. Three of the spaces have tenants already in the process of signing leases; one space, an end unit with a wraparound window bar, remains available. (Interested? Reach Tommy here.)
The tenants will be announced at a later date, but two of them are food trucks opening their first brick-and-mortar locations.
Across from the food stalls is another space for restaurants and retail. The Camp North End team is hoping to find tenants that need a large kitchen but also a storefront. The space can fit up to six tenants, but some of the spaces can be combined to make room for larger kitchens.
A bit further down the timeline is the construction of more restaurant spaces and stalls in the building next door.
Camp North End has been making an impressive culinary push. They recently announced that their NextPlate dinner series would be bringing in guest chefs from other cities to work with local chefs for three dinners in November. The dinners combine performances from local arts groups with meals by some of the city’s best chefs.
Already open in the space are Birch Fine Tea, Hex Coffee, Heist Brewing, and Chop and Chisel. —Kristen Wile
