20-Buck Bottle: A festive French red

This Rhone blend is a balance of fruit and spice

2013 Château Saint-Nabor Côtes du Rhône Villages Cuvée Prestige

    Wines

A Rhone red blend from Château Saint-Nabor at Bond Street Wines. Kristen Wile/UP

Available at: Bond Street Wines, Myers Park
    Price: $18.99

On the nose: Black licorice, pepper, black currant, and charred wood
On the palate: This red hits midpalate, with medium tannins. It’s slightly tart, but still fruity enough to go down easy.
On the plate: We’d drink this paired with lamb or game dishes.

Our take: This is a warming wine we’d drink all winter long. The blend is grenache, syrah, mourvèdre, and carignan, grown in limestone and clay soils that create a wine that balances fruit and spice. We’re very likely to purchase this bottle again.
