Valentine’s Day coming up quickly. If flowers and chocolate are part of your holiday tradition, ignore the temptation to grab a box of cellophane-wrapped truffles from the grocery store and pick up one of these local options instead.

20 Degrees Chocolates
Heart-shaped boxes in multiple sizes are available at both Petit Philippe and this chocolatier’s South End storefront. You can also opt to purchase beautiful, individual truffles that suit your Valentine’s favorite flavors, caramels, or chocolate bars.

JF Chocolat
Crafted by pastry chef Justin Fry, JF Chocolat sells classic chocolates for pick-up and delivery. You can also find him popping up at the South End Farmers Market this Saturday, just in time to purchase a smashable chocolate heart or other gift-worthy creations.

Potts Chocolate
Stop by this Cedar Street shop and purchase your Valentine’s Day confections between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. Tuesday-Friday, or between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Customizable boxes include red wine, vegan macadamia-raspberry, dark chocolate-raspberry, and hot chocolate truffles.

The Secret Chocolatier
The city’s most well-known chocolate shop sells classic boxes of Valentine’s Day chocolates, but you can also purchase chocolate roses, chocolate-covered cherries, caramels, and more.

The Underground Truffle
Gift a box of six truffles in raspberry ganache or cocoa and nib, or purchase an assortment of chocolates in a festive Love tin that includes both options.
