    These are the dishes diners are missing out on from restaurants around town

    A brunch experience means you get the best of both worlds — a menu filled with both sweet and savory options. Whether it’s a roasted chicken crepe or a smoked salmon board, there’s usually something for everyone. While you may have your signature brunch order that always satisfies your cravings, it’s time to be adventurous and try something new. Before you head to brunch, check out this list of the most underrated brunch orders in Charlotte, according to the people that serve them. 


    The Artisan’s Palate, NoDa

    Most underrated brunch item: Smoked salmon board
    What’s on it/in it: Smoked salmon (lox), cream cheese, slivered onions, capers, lemon, and slices of crusty bread


    Church & Union, Uptown 

    Most underrated brunch item: Okonomiyaki
    What’s on it/in it: Cabbage pancake, sunny egg, braised bacon, sriracha aioli, and yakiniku sauce


    Fern, Flavors from the Garden

    Most underrated brunch item: Brunch burger
    What’s on it/in it: Mushroom patty, shiitake bacon, JUST egg, lettuce, tomato, and a pickle with a choice of side salad or country potatoes


    Haymaker, Uptown 

    Most underrated brunch item: Eggs Benton
    What’s on it/in it: Over easy local farm eggs, Benton’s 24-month aged country ham, Johnny cake (made with Farm & Sparrow cornmeal), creamed collard greens, and Appalachian tomato gravy

    What’s on it/in it: Cream cheese, cheddar cheese, farm fresh spicy jalapeño, Hellmann’s real mayonnaise, and crispy bacon


    Salted Melon Market & Eatery, South End 

    Most underrated brunch item: That’s How I Bowl
    What’s on it/in it: Scrambled egg white, house chorizo spice, avocado, roasted sweet potato, chipotle aioli, cilantro, roasted poblano bone broth, and toasted quinoa
