This Yeti cooler cake looks just like the real thing
The cake was made by Sweet Affairs pastry chef Jossie Lukacik
This city has some amazingly talented pastry chefs, including several who have left restaurants to launch their own businesses. My Instagram feed is full of beautiful cakes, but something I saw recently, well, took the cake.
Jossie Lukacik, of Sweet Affairs, was commissioned to do a groom’s cake recently for an avid fisherman. The Yeti cooler cake and the fish alongside it are incredibly realistic. The cake was entirely edible; the cooler itself was a red velvet cake with milk chocolate ganache filling and salted caramel buttercream. The fish was a cake pop filling (cake crumbles mixed with icing to help it hold shape) and covered in fondant, then hand-painted. Lukacik, who recently opened baking class Sweet Spot Studio, says it was her favorite cake she’s done.
“I kind of want to quit everything and just make fondant fish for a living,” she jokes.
