Q&A: What will happen to Vana?
Each week, we answer reader questions
Q: What do you think will happen to Vana?
Kristen: That’s a good question. There’s not really any way to know. My hope, however, is that the restaurant group can bring in an investor or partner who can get things moving in the right direction. With a lost liquor license and expired construction permits at the Lake Norman location, operations don’t seem very stable right now — and things we’re hearing off the record add to that. The restaurants are both well-liked by this city; hopefully an investor is willing to come in, settle things, and straighten out the business side to get the restaurants back to steady operations. Plus, chef/partner Mike Noll is one of the most creative chefs in the city, consistently putting out dishes that leave me in awe. I really hope we continue being able to enjoy his food.
Q: Any update on the happy hour bill?
Kristen: Both the State Senate and House bills — regarding opening ABC stores on holidays, and adding happy hour, among other things — have gone back to committee. We’ll be following where they go from there! You can also contact your NC district’s state representative and senator to let them know your stance on these bills.
