SouthPark’s Oak Steakhouse has a new executive chef. Tyler Honeycutt has returned to Charlotte from Indaco in Charleston, where he oversaw the restaurant’s pasta production. Indaco and Oak are both owned by Charleston-based The Indigo Road Hospitality Group, which also owns O-Ku and Sukoshi here in Charlotte.
“We have a tradition of promoting from within at The Indigo Road and since joining the team at Indaco Charleston, Tyler has proven himself to not only be a skilled chef, but a leader in the kitchen,” Steve Palmer, managing partner of Indigo Road, said in a statement.
Honeycutt, an Asheville native, has also worked in 5Church’s Charlotte and Charleston locations as well as The Obstinate Daughter on Sullivan’s Island, a well-regarded restaurant just outside of Charleston.
Diners will begin to see changes soon as the menu takes on more of Honeycutt’s bold flavors. Honeycutt replaces former executive chef Alex Jenkins, who had been with the restaurant since it opened in early 2017. —Kristen Wile
