Dessert is popping up throughout the city

Here are some of Charlotte’s sweetest vendors


Dessert pop-ups in Charlotte are on the rise. Many mobile bakeries have grown a following during the pandemic, and are showing up to serve the community at local events, businesses, and farmers’ markets. 

Here’s where you can find scratch-made cookies, cinnamon buns, cheesecakes, and more in Charlotte. 


Bun Appetit!

Bun Appetit! creates made-from-scratch cinnamon and sticky buns. Flavors include vanilla bean glazed, triple almond, cinnamon raisin, and more. You can find Bun Appetit! at the Matthews Community Farmers Market on Saturday mornings and Uptown Farmers Market on Saturdays during market season. You can also pick up orders at Toucan Louie’s Cafe and Roastery. Thursday delivery is available. You can place orders online


Cheesecake Carousel

Cheesecake Carousel offers homemade cheesecakes using family recipes. Flavors include turtle, caramel apple pie, cookies and cream, strawberry glaze, and more. Miniature cheesecakes and an ice cream bar are also available. The cheesecake dessert truck is typically located in Uptown at the corner of Tryon and Trade street. Check online for updates. 


Crumbled Nut Bakeshop

While Crumbled Nut Bakeshop’s specialty is cookies, the shop offers various seasonal confections. Cinnamon rolls, brownies, bars, and tarts are all on the menu. On most Saturdays, you can pick up their treats from the South End Market at Atherton Mill. You can also find the shop at Front Porch Sundays and Esther and Elsa events. 


Confections of a Martian

These handmade confections can be found every other Saturday at Hex Coffee in Camp North End. Cinnamon rolls, donuts, and an assortment of treats are offered. Owner Jasmine Macon will soon open a brick-and-mortar spot, BAD Donuts, at Camp North End. Place orders online.

Eleven Eleven Wellness Bakery

Eleven Eleven Wellness Bakery is a 100 percent gluten-free artisan bakery that offers maple sugar cookies, dark chocolate chip cookies, muffins, cakes, and more. The bakery can be found at South End Market at Atherton Mill on Saturdays from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. 


Festin Bakery

The bakery offers made-from-scratch classic pastries. Menu items include goat cheese and honey boureka, tarts, and more. You can find their treats at the Davidson Farmers Market on Saturdays. Place orders online


Honeybear Bake Shop 

The bake shop regularly rotates its menu of flavorful cookies. Past cookie flavors include peanut butter and jelly, capt’n crunch berries, oatmeal cream pie and more. The shop will offer its menu at the Matthews Farmers Market during the summer. Order online Sunday through Thursday at 12 p.m. Half-dozen minimum. 


Magpies

The bakery creates mini savory and sweet hand pies. Sweet pie flavors include blueberry lemon, strawberry, and more. Magpies is located at Uptown and Matthews Farmers’ Markets on Saturdays. Place orders online.


Milk Glass Pie

Milk Glass Pie offers a weekly rotating menu of pies and other desserts. You can find the bakery at Free Range Brewing on Fridays from 4-6 p.m., Uptown Farmers Market, and Foothills Farmers Market in Shelby. Order online


Moonbox Bakery

Menus and locations for the pop-up bakery are a surprise. Past menus included tiramisu, molasses cream pies, olive oil cake, and sourdough cinnamon rolls. Check Instagram for updates on pop-up events. Order online
