Butcher shop, taco spot opening in Dilworth
Both additions to Park Road are out-of-town concepts

New York Butcher Shoppe and Taco Mama will open in the coming months in Dilworth. Kristen Wile/UP
In its recent expansion, the Park Square development built a row of new retail spaces along Park Road in Dilworth. The shopping center, which already houses Ru San’s, Fran’s, and Fiamma, is at the intersection of Park Road and Kenilworth Avenue. Two of the new spaces are restaurant concepts, and the developers are bringing in franchises to fill them.
The first to open will be New York Butcher Shoppe, based in Greenville, South Carolina, with a target opening date of August 30. The butcher shop will serve cuts of Certified Angus Beef, as well as chicken, pork, veal, and lamb. There will also be a large prepared foods section, selling salads, Italian dishes like chicken or veal parm and pastas, and sausages and roasts. The shop will also offer specialty cheeses and wines.
There are already a dozen locations of New York Butcher Shoppe throughout the South, including Asheville and Isle of Palms.
Coming later this fall next door to the butcher shop is Taco Mama, the 18th location for the restaurant. The first opened in Mountain Brook, Alabama in 2011. Taco Mama will serve tacos, burritos, and margaritas in a somewhat kitschy, brightly-colored dining room. Another location is currently in the works in Winston-Salem, as well. —Kristen Wile

Any idea if NY Butcher is sourcing local proteins?
I’ll find out!
