    A guide to Charlotte-area farmers markets

    Here’s where to find fresh produce year-round


    Shopping at farmers markets is a great way to support local farmers and artisans. As you prepare for the onset of spring, consider visiting one of these seasonal or year-long farmers markets. You’re sure to find items like local, fresh produce, fresh baked bread, fresh flowers.

    Year-round

    Charlotte Regional Farmers Market 

    Located on Yorkmont Road, off Billy Graham Parkway, Charlotte Regional Farmers Market is operated by the N.C. Department of Agriculture. Vendors include Bluebird Farm, Flynn’s Farm, Honey Tree Farm, Underwood Family Farm, A Way of Life Farm, and Windy Hill Farm. Open 8 a.m.-5 p.m., Wednesday through Sunday.


    Davidson Farmers Market 

    Vendors include Barbee Farms, Big Oak Farm, Blue Goat Diary, Butter Crust Bakery, Heritage Harvest Farms, Coldwater Creek Farms. Open Saturdays from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. Winter market is every other Saturday from Dec.-Mar. Prime market season is from Apr-Nov.


    Gastonia Farmers Market 

    Vendors include Lick Fork Farm, Southern Greens Farm, Sparrow Farm, Steadfast Flowers, White Farm. Open Apr-Nov, Saturdays from 7:30 p.m.-12:30 p.m.


    Matthews Community Farmers Market 

    This Saturday market is open rain or shine and offers live music, food trucks, and contests. Visitors can find items from Big Oaks Natural Farm, Carlea Farms, Dancing Bees Honey Farm, Cannizzaro Sauces, Honey Bear Bake Shop. Main market season hours are from 8 a.m.-12 p.m. from Apr 13 – Nov.23. Winter hours extend until April and are from 8-10 a.m.


    Mecklenburg County Market

    Open since 1937, visitors can purchase fresh produce from Dale’s Farm. Open 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday – Friday, 7 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday, and 10-4 p.m. Sunday. Beverly’s Gourmet Foods is available and offers vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options like quiches, breakfast casseroles, soups, and biscuits. Located near Dilworth.


    South End Farmers Market

    South End Farmers Market has been serving the neighborhood since 2010. Some of the vendors include Brewington Farms, Coldwater Creek Farms, Urban Gourmet Farms, The Jugo Bar, and Windy Hill Farm. Open Saturdays from 8 a.m. – 1 p.m.


    Union County Farmers Market 

    Visitors can shop for vegetables, fruit, farm-fresh eggs, local honey. Vendors include Creekside Farm, Cane Creek Farm, Tucker Honey. Open Saturdays Apr.-Dec. from 8 a.m.-12 p.m.


    Uptown Farmers Market 

    Visitors will find items from Crouching Hippo Farm, Seven Sisters Farm, Parker Farms Cattle & Co., Verdant Bread. Open from 8 a.m.-12:30 p.m. on Saturdays from Apr.-Dec / 10 a.m.-12 p.m. from Jan.-Mar.


    Waxhaw Farmers Market 

    Vendors include Artworks Pottery, Grapes & Olives on Tap, The Pour Farmer, Tea Leaves & Pages. Open bi-weekly on Saturdays from 10 a.m.-12 p.m.


    Seasonal

    Belmont Farmers Market 

    A weekly afternoon-evening market in downtown Belmont, NC. Vendors include Old Hwy 20 Farm, Basswood Creek Farms, Humble Acres, and D6 Provisions. Open every Thursday from 4-7 p.m., Apr-Oct.


    Cotswold Farmers Market 

    Vendors include Cox Brother Acres, Edgerton Farms, Farmhouse BBQ, Old Highway 20 Farm, and Rocky River Farms. Open Saturdays from 8 a.m.-12 p.m., May-Oct.


    Harrisburg Farmers Market 

    Vendors include Cook Cattle Farm, Kathryn’s Cottage Kitchen, Miller & Sons Produce, Street Fare Farm. Open Mondays from 3-6 p.m., May-Oct.


    Mint Hill Farmers Market 

    Visitors can find local items like fresh-baked goods, honey, preserves, produce, and farm-raised meat. There’s also live music, food trucks and historic village tours. Open Saturdays from 9 a.m.-1 p.m., May-Sept. Open Saturdays from 8 a.m-12 p.m, April-August.


    Mount Holly Farmers Market 

    Mount Holly Farmers Market was created by the Mount Holly Community Development Foundation in 2006. Since then, the market has grown to offer more than 30 vendors. Vendors include Grapes & Olives on Tap, Indian Creek Farms, Ladybug Farms Bakery, Little Big Sky Flowers. Open Saturdays from 8 a.m.-12 p.m., Apr-Oct.


    The Neighborhood Farmers Market

    A series of weekly pop-up markets in four Charlotte neighborhoods, aggregated by The Farm at Dover Vineyards, running April-October. Eastover: Saturdays, 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at Summit Coffee on Providence Road. LoSo: Wednesdays, 5-7 p.m., at The Everyday Market on Dewitt Lane. Montford: Wednesdays 5-7 p.m. at Pasta & Provisions on Park Road. NoDa: Thursdays, 5-7 p.m. at Local Loaf on 35th Street. Plaza Midwood: Saturdays, 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at The Common Market on Commonwealth Ave. Uptown: Wednesdays 5-7 p.m. at The Market at 7th Street. Wesley Heights: Saturdays, 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at Rhino Market on West Morehead. Wilmore: Tuesdays 5-7 p.m. at Pasta & Provisions on Mint Street.


    Rosa Parks Farmers Market 

    Rosa Parks Farmers Market offers education as well as fresh, local produce. Visitors can stop by to pick up farm-fresh fruits and vegetables. Then, return home to participate in a Zoom lecture that includes health and food demonstrations. Open June-Sept. from 3-7 p.m. on Tuesdays. Located near Johnson C. Smith University.


    The Village at Robinson Farms Farmers Market

    Purchase fresh peaches, tomatoes, melons, herbs, fresh eggs, jams. Open Wednesdays and Saturdays from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. from Apr.- Oct. Located in Ballantyne.


    Winecoff School Road Farmers Market 

    Vendors include D.A.Y. Enterprises, Lucky Fish Seafood, Green Meadow Acres. Open 9 a.m.-12 p.m. until Apr. Open 8 a.m.-12 p.m. from May-Sept. Located in Concord.

    Take a fun trip to these area farms for produce, meats, eggs, and more.

    Barbee Farms, Concord

    2022 UPPY Farm of the Year. Produce, eggs, preserves, pickles. Noon-6 p.m., Mondays-Fridays, through the summer. Hours change fall-winter.


    Bush ‘n Vine Farm, York, S.C.

    Full selection of seasonal produce, meats, breads, preserves, pickles, and other items. The site also offers a lunch stand with outdoor seating. Open year-round, hours vary according to season. The farm also operates satelite farm stands in Rock Hill (1662 Ebenezer Rodd) and Lake Wylie (4090 Charlotte Hwy) from late March through October.


    The Farm at Dover Vineyards, Concord

    Produce, mushrooms, and meats. 1-5 p.m. Tuesdays and Wednesdays.


    Seven Sisters Farm, Denton

    Produce, herbs, flowers. 11 a.m.-6 p.m., Wednesdays-Fridays, Saturdays, April-December.


    Small City Farm, Charlotte

    2021 UPPY Farm of the Year. Produce, eggs, flowers, and preserves. 9 a.m.-1 p.m., Saturdays, May – November.


    Simpson’s Produce

    Open since 1941, this market on King’s Drive brings in a variety of fresh meats and proteins from inside and outside the Carolinas. The farm stand runs from April – December.
