Q&A: New and cool, and patio season

Each week, we answer your questions about food and drink in Charlotte

Q: Apparently it’s still patio season? But once it gets cold this weekend, are there any good all-weather patios?
UP: Sure there are! Soul Gastrolounge has heaters on its Plaza Midwood patio, though the tables are only four tops, so don’t expect to dine there with a big group. Haberdish is another fun option for an indoor/outdoor space. You can also check out N.C. Red’s all-season patio. Those are a few of my favorites; readers, leave a comment if I missed your favorite!

Q: Are you going out for Queen’s Feast? If so, where will you be eating?
UP: We are likely going to take Jon’s parents up to Charlotte Motor Speedway for dinner at The Speedway Club. I’m excited about that, because it’s a really unique experience that is closed to the public otherwise. It’s not a place that’s meant for foodies, but definitely a restaurant you need to try at least once.

Q: When will tickets go on sale for The Goodyear House event?
UP: Next week! Openings can be unpredictable, so we’re doing our best to make sure we don’t have to change the date on you. We’ll send an email out letting you know an on-sale date and time, then follow up with an email once tickets go on sale.

Q: We’re going out with friends who don’t get out often, and they want to try “someplace new and cool.” Where should we take them?
UP: How new is new to someone who doesn’t go out often? I’d recommend Bardo if they haven’t been there yet. I’ve been really impressed with KiKi, too, and they’re even newer and cooler.
