New ABC store open in Matthews
The store is the 28th in Mecklenburg County
The Mecklenburg County ABC Board opened a new store today in Matthews. Located off Independence Boulevard, the store is in The Crossing Shopping Center. This location makes for number 28 in the county.
Meck ABC sent out an email announcing the opening last week, and also indicated which rare spirits, mostly bourbons, would be available for release. The email also stated camping out overnight would not be allowed, perhaps in response to the overwhelming line that greeted the Waverly location when it opened in late May. People waited hours for that location’s opening, hoping for bourbons in the Van Winkle and Buffalo Trace Antique Collection, though neither were on the shelves.
Today’s opening in Matthews included Blood Oath Pact 5, Elijah Craig Barrel Proof, Old Ezra Brooks, and E.H. Taylor Small Batch — most of which can be found easily in other states.
The manager at this location is Jennifer Simpson. The store is open traditional ABC hours, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and is closed on Sundays. —Kristen Wile
