Photo recap: Mad Dash preview dinner
Chef Corey Jones kicks off new Uptown location
by TM Petaccia
Chef Corey Jones has completed his move Uptown from The Market at 7th Street to the Truist Plaza and last night UP members and guests got a small sneak peek of what customers can enjoy now and a small tease of what’s to come soon.
Although the chef is no stranger to providing fine dining experiences, Jones’ Mad Dash is a fast-casual concept, focusing on burgers, sandwiches, light salads, and other informal fare. “Everyone cannot always go out for a fancy dinner, but people are always good for a sandwich,” he says. The restaurant is currently going through a soft-open phase, as Jones awaits setup of his deep-frying equipment, so he can resume serving up the fried chicken sandwiches and wings he is known for.
In addition to the above, Jones is planning to expand to more deli type dishes, such as a Reuben sandwich, Italian grinders, weekly tacos, and an early morning breakfast menu. Many of his ingredients are sourced locally, but Jones is also keeping an eye on affordability and practicality. “I don’t want to charge people $50 for a sandwich,” he says.
Over the next couple of days, Mad Dash will run slightly abbreviated 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. hours, with full day service, opening at 7:30 a.m., beginning this Friday.
Here are a few images from last night’s festivities.
