Q&A: Billy Sunday, Chinese food, filling salads
Each week, we answer reader questions about food and drink in Charlotte
Q: What happened to Billy Sunday?
Kristen: Billy Sunday closed last month. According to our sources, Billy Sunday was told another concept was taking their space at Optimist Hall as well as taking over operations of the Spindle Bar and was surprised by the news their lease was ending. Some staff have remained with the new owners.
Q: What are your favorite Chinese food spots?

Tom: I tend to lean toward more fiery Szechuan dishes. My go-tos are The Dumpling Lady (South End and Optimist Hall), Lam’s Kitchen in Matthews, and also in Matthews, the new Lanzhou Hand-Pulled Noodles. All three will get you in a nice palate-pleasing sweat.
Q: What are your favorite “filling salads” in Charlotte?
Kristen: I love what they are doing at Salted Melon. They have several salads to satisfy your hunger. Right now, my go-to is their Farmstand Salad — arugula, quinoa, roasted sweet potatoes, caramelized Brussels sprouts & shallots, dried cherries, chopped pistachios, and goat cheese in a lemon vinaigrette — to which I also add salmon.
