20-Buck Bottle: Refreshing rosé with a hint of sweetness

Say farewell to summer with this smart buy

2018 Chateau St. Jean Rosé

Château St. Jean RoséAvailable at: Arthur’s Wine Shop at Belk, SouthPark
Price: $19.99

On The Nose: Fresh picked strawberries, Thai basil, hint of melon
On The Palate:  Balanced acidity with a hint of fruit sweetness, peach, light body
On The Plate: Pair with gilled shrimp salad, spicy Thai lemongrass and noodles, crudités with blue cheese dip, fresh berries and vanilla ice cream.

Our Take: This is a good rosé for summer; purchase and drink now as it is four years old.

Fun Fact: Chateau St. Jean is in The Valley of the Moon at the northern tip of Sonoma Valley. It is a stunning property owned by the Foley family, who own multiple labels in California and New Zealand. The beautiful chateau on the property was built by a lumber and iron ore millionaire in 1920. The 300-acre property was not seriously farmed for wine making grapes until 1973. It is an amazing place to visit due to its location and the overall quality of the wines.
