20-Buck Bottle: The best Italian white I’ve had this year

This Falanghina has won awards for the past 4 years

Fontanavecchia Falanghina del Sannio DOP 2019

Availability: Pasta & Provisions
Price: $13.99

On the nose: Apricot, fresh straw, lemon zest
On the palate: Creamy texture, stone fruit, orange flower
On the plate: Try this wine with poached cod, pasta with summer vegetables, or creamy brie with marmalade

Our take: An excellent value from Campania, north of Naples

Interesting fact: The Rillo family are leaders in quality wines from the Samnium region. The grapes grow on volcanic soil (think Mount Vesuvius) with low yields that produce high quality, small quantity wines.
