20-Buck Bottle: Oregonian pinot blanc with a spring lilt

A great price from an excellent year for northwest wines

    by Anita Skogland

2021 Pinot Blanc, Elk Cove Vineyards, Willamette Valley, Oregon

Available at: Assorted Table Wine & Shop
    Price: $17.99

On The Nose: Melon, pear, tarragon
On The Palate:  Medium body, medium length, sweet apple, balanced acidity
On The Plate: Pair with shellfish, frittatas, potato rosti, trout, sole, creamy cheeses, or a lettuce salad with tahini dressing

Our Take: A great wine as spring becomes summer. Great picnic wine.

Fun Facts: Elk Cove has been operating for four decades in Willamette Valley. They offer Pinot Gris, Rose of Pinot Noir, Pinot Noir, Riesling and Pinot Blanc. They are located at high altitude, which allows them to grow grapes and produce wines similar to those of Alsace, France. When the Campbell family planted their first vines in 1974, there were fewer than ten wineries in Oregon. 2021 was an outstanding year at Elk Cove. Cool weather during bloom and moderate temperatures during most of the growing season brought forth an ample harvest of intensely concentrated fruit.
