20-Buck Bottle: Brisk rosé for the last warm weather

A California wine from an iconic producer

Bonny Doon Vineyard Vin Gris de Cigare 2019

Availability: Whole Foods
Price: $15.99

On the nose: Raspberry, mint, subtle white pepper
On the palate: Cherry, watermelon; elegant with balanced acid and a long finish
On the plate: Pair with charcuterie, cheese, bruschetta, hearty salads

Our take: This is a wine that will keep rewarding your palate. You can keep it for a couple of years, unlike most rosés, which usually last 15 to 17 months from their vintage years.

Interesting fact: The name of this wine is “Pink Wine From The Earth.”The wine maker, Randall Grahm, is one of the original Rhone Rangers who planted various grapes from the Rhone region of France along the Central Coast of California. He sold most of his properties in the last 10 years to concentrate on making quality, affordable wines in smaller quantities. He was one of the first U.S. winemakers to embrace the screw cap.
