This family-owned label hails from Argentina
2020 Zuccardi Serie A Bonarda, Santa Rose, Argentine
Available at: Reid’s Fine Foods, Myers Park
Price: $16.99
On The Nose: Blackberry, red plum, tarragon, with a very dark hue
On The Palate: Full body, silky tannins, well-balanced, hint of vanilla, chocolate
On The Plate: Pair with game, roasted whole chicken, roasted tomato pasta, huervos rancheros, sausage
Our Take: Bonarda is a French grape that has done well in the high altitude regions of Argentina. It is more like merlot than malbec. It is very food friendly.
Fun Fact: Zuccardi is a family-owned winery in the Uco Valley of Argentina. They produce a variety of red and white wines in Series A. The soil is very chalky, which provides a tempered minerality to the wines. Fermentation is done in concrete tanks.
