Mardi Gras is always a fun occasion to celebrate. From the vibrant colors to the overall excitement associated with the season, it’s always a treat. If you’re making plans to secure a king cake or a king cake-inspired dessert, you can have your pick from these local bakeries and restaurants.

Chocolatier Barrucand

Chocolatier Barrucand creates more than 100 made-from-scratch chocolates and desserts. This Mardi Grais season, king cakes will be in the number. The 10-inch king cakes are whole cakes and are $25.

Cupcake Delirium

Cupcake Delirium offers a different spin on the king cake with king cake cupcakes for $3 each. The texture is more cake-like and topped with decorative toppings.

CynTucci’s

CynTucci’s will have king cakes on hand for Mardi Grais on Mar. 1. No orders will be accepted prior to Mardi Grais.

The Lost Cajun

The Lost Cajun offers king cake until Mardis Grais. The traditional king cakes are sold as a kit and are from Gambinos Bakery in New Orleans. The undecorated cake comes with supplies for you to decorate at home. The cost is $45. You can also purchase a slice of king cake from the restaurant for $6.

Manolo’s Bakery

The king cake from Manolo’s Bakery comes with various options. Pricing depends on bread size (number of slices) and your choice of filling. You can order extra small (one to two slices), small (four to six slices), medium (13-14 slices), or large ( 28-30 slices). Order online.

Renaissance Pâtisserie

Renaissance Pâtisserie offers traditional king cakes. The nine-inch cake is $32 and the 11-inch cake is $45. Closed on Monday and Tuesday.

Ruby Sunshine

Ruby Sunshine offers king cake stuffed french toast, which is brioche french toast stuffed with a cinnamon-orange cheesecake and strawberry preserves. It’s topped with cream cheese icing, purple, green, and gold sanding sugar and whipped cream. It’s also served with applewood smoked bacon. $13. The king cake beignets are New Orleans-style beignets served with a cinnamon-orange cheesecake, strawberry preserves, whipped cream, Mardi Gras sanding sugar. $7. Order for dine-in or takeout.

Suarez Bakery

Suarez Bakery’s king cake is a sweet dough with vanilla glaze, coarse sanding sugar, and your choice of filling. Choose cinnamon and brown sugar or cream cheese filling.The cake is 9 inches and serves 10-12. All cakes include a plastic baby figurine hidden inside. Pre-order for pickup between Feb. 17 through Mar. 1. The cost is $33. Order online. Pre-orders are limited and available only until sold out.
