Wentworth & Fenn to expand space
The Camp North End bakery will soon be able to host small events
Wentworth & Fenn, the Camp North End bakery owned by Samantha Allen, is growing. Approximately 500 square feet will be added to the space this spring, according to Allen.
The bakery’s entrance will be moved to the front of The Mount from its current position at the far end of the building, making the door more visible. The additional square footage will create space for a seating area inside the bakery. A wine and beer permit is in the works, too, so the bakery can sell beer and wine by the can with pastry pairings in mind for those popping in for dessert and a drink.
“Because we’re open later into the evening, it can kind of be more of a date night spot for couples,” Allen says.
The addition will also enable Wentworth & Fenn to host private parties, like bridal and baby showers, with a pastry focus. The new interior design will feature the same mid-century modern design, with a central table and seating as well as comfortable upholstered chairs. Allen calls the vibe “a little more romantic and darker.” The pastry case will likely expand, too.
The first step to construction is pouring a concrete foundation, which will become a temporary patio space until construction progresses. While the addition is being completed, Wentworth & Fenn’s pastry trailer, Selma, will be parked in the courtyard for customers. The kitchen will remain in operation. Allen says a grand re-opening will hopefully take place in May.
