T-Bones on the Lake, a waterfront Lake Wylie restaurant with a large menu spanning bar food to steaks and seafood, closed its doors on December 1. The space will reopen later this year with a new concept from Bottlecap Group, owners of Hot Taco, Ink ‘N Ivy, Brazwells, The Gibson, Slate, Whiskey Warehouse, and more. The new restaurant will be called Papa Doc’s Shore Club. T-Bones was open for more than two decades, and announced its impending closure on Facebook in early November after John Marks reported such in Fort Mill’s The Herald. From the T-Bones Facebook page:

“Not sure why anyone thought it would be appropriate to share our story before we do, but amid all the gossip, there is some truth.

We have entered into a purchase agreement with Bottle Cap Group, but we have not had a closing. So as of today, they have not bought us. We do expect it to go through, possibly by November 30.

I wanted to tell my work family before anyone else, because we’re exactly that…family. It’s unfortunate that so many people thought it was their story to share before we had family time together to process this. But we did just that, last night. There were tears, shock, disbelief and some anger… but mostly, there was love. You know…just like real families.

It’s been 24 years. And we’ve watched YOUR families grow up. We’ve spent your milestones with you ~ 21st, 30th, 40th, 50th, 60th birthdays. Rehearsals for weddings and receptions for the same. And it has been our pleasure. Actually, our privilege.

So we invite you to come share your stories, your memories and your love with us until we close. And if for some reason the purchase does not go through… we’ll continue to make more memories

    See you at The Bone!”

Bottlecap Group’s restaurants go big on the vibe and interior decoration, making them fun destinations for a high-energy night, but aren’t known for their food. Papa Doc’s will serve American cuisine with a lean towards seafood and frozen drinks. There will also be a to-go station for boaters. —Kristen Wile
