Rooster’s Uptown begins repairs
The restaurant suffered extensive damage after a fire
Construction at Rooster’s Wood-Fired Kitchen in Uptown is underway after a fire caused substantial damage to the restaurant. The fire broke out on September 30 in the kitchen’s hood system, and though it was contained to the exhaust system, there was smoke damage as well as water damage from efforts to put the fire out.
The Charlotte Fire Department has ruled the fire to be accidental, and damage was totaled at $1.5 million. Progress on re-opening was stalled as owner Jim Noble dealt with insurance processes.
“We continue to be grateful that no one was hurt, and to Charlotte Fire Department for minimizing any danger from the fire,” Noble said in a statement after the fire.
Staff from Rooster’s Uptown have been transitioned to other restaurants in the Noble Food & Pursuits group, which includes Rooster’s SouthPark, Noble Smoke, Bossy Beulah’s, and The King’s Kitchen. Though there is no definite timeline for re-opening, the restaurant should be open in the next few months and will be marked with a grand re-opening celebration. —Kristen Wile
