Reid’s wine director launches wine label

Sales of the cabernet will benefit charity

Leyla Arcovio, longtime director of wine operations at Reid’s Fine Foods, is launching her own wine label. Called LEYLA, the debut release is a California cabernet sauvignon. The wine will be available for purchase at all Reid’s locations.

The wine, priced at $39.99 per bottle, is sourced from grapes grown in Napa Valley’s Rutherford Bench region. The area is known for its mixed volcanic soil created by a stream long ago. Sam Balakian of Tarrica Wine Cellars is the winemaker.

For each bottle sold, a portion of proceeds will be donated to Madelyn’s Fund, a non-profit founded by former Panthers player Andy Lee and his wife, Rachel. Madelyn’s Fund provides financial support for families with extended NICU stays, as well as help with bills and funeral expenses to families who have experienced infant loss. They lost their daughter, Madelyn, in 2015.

Reid’s will host two tasting and bottle signing events, one on Friday, March 13 at SouthPark, and the second on Saturday, March 28 at the Selwyn Avenue store. —Kristen Wile
