Queen’s Feast will return this month, taking place between Jan. 21 and Jan. 30, with 70 restaurants around the city offering three-course menus. The twice-annual event returned last summer after a year-long pandemic pause.
This year, to help restaurants combat rising food and labor costs while still offering a discounted menu, restaurants are able to charge the usual $30 or $35 fixed prices, as well as $40 or $45 for the three courses. Queen’s Feast often brings diners looking to experience new places more affordably. However, during the pandemic, creating the volume necessary for the special to make financial sense was difficult. This year’s 70 participating restaurants, compared to 140 in the last Queen’s Feast before the pandemic, indicates many concepts still aren’t confident in their ability to staff such a busy week of service.
Many recently opened restaurants are on the list, including Bocado, Calle Sol, Big Ben British Restaurant (now in Elizabeth), and Mizu. The 70 participating restaurants include those in nearby areas, such as Belmont, Concord, Fort Mill, Hickory, and Huntersville.
Returning to this year’s list is the Speedway Club at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Generally a members-only restaurant, the club is open to Queen’s Feast guests for the duration of the event. There, diners can enjoy classic steakhouse fare while looking out over the track.
