Q&A: Winston-Salem and small party private dining experiences

Each week, we answer your questions about food and drink in Charlotte

Q: I know you covered private dining for holiday parties for larger groups. Do you know of any special/private/semi-private spaces available for a group of 10-12? We work in the foodservice industry and most of the folks will be from outside Charlotte so I would love to find something really unique if possible? Thanks!
Kristen: Supperland recently opened their speakeasy on the level beneath the bar, where you could enjoy the cocktail tasting experience as a small group. It’s a lot of alcohol, though, and the pairings are rather small, so I’d suggest getting a small meal in before that, as well. You could also look into Supperland’ s private dining room, which looks into the kitchen on the downstairs level below the main dining room. Tattoo Bar inside of Kiki Bistro is a really cool space that can be reserved in full. Another fun idea might be to check out Dogwood and see if you can reserve the entire kitchen bar, where they offer a tasting menu based on the chef’s whim. If it’s far enough out, you might even be able to rent out Counter-. Foxcroft Wine Co. has a table you can rent out in the middle of its retail space in Dilworth, which is fun, but perhaps not as unique as some of these other options.

Q: Do you have any recommendations for restaurants in Winston-Salem?
Kristen: Yes, we do! Before Covid-19 hit, we kicked off a day trip series called A Day Eating In, where shared recommendations for our favorite restaurants to enjoy for each meal of the day in cities within driving distance. Justin tackled Winston-Salem in this story.
