Q: When is N.C. Red opening?

UP: You probably saw March, but it’s looking like early April. We’re actually holding a preview event there for our subscribers, so stay tuned for the date on that. We’re hoping for the first week of April, but it’s hard to tell with construction and permitting. Paying subscribers will get an email announcing tickets are on sale and access to buy tickets before anyone else, so keep an eye on your inbox!

Q: Which food trucks will be serving at Paws in the Park on Saturday, April 6?

UP: Such a great event! Paws in the Park is hosted by Charlotte Black Dogs and will include entertainment, contests, and food trucks. They haven’t finalize the list yet, but I should have this for you next week. Stay tuned!

Q: Also, which establishments are the most pet-friendly?

UP: For smaller or well-behaved pups, I like the patio at RockSalt. It’s not big enough for them to cause chaos, but big enough where they won’t get in the way. We have brought our pretty poorly behaved dogs there, too, and they did okay. Breweries with big patios and shade, such as NoDa Brewing, Olde Meck, and Lenny Boy, tend to have buckets for pups. 300 East serves a brunch item for pups, too! Other great patios for dogs: Sweet Lew’s (just make sure you bring another human to order), Poplar Street Café, and Reid’s SouthPark.

Q: When will we find out if anyone moved on in the next round of the James Beard Awards?
