Q&A: UP’s Wrapped Playlist, the best restaurant in Matthews

Each week, we answer reader questions about food and drink in Charlotte

Q: If UP had a Spotify Wrapped for restaurants, which did you visit the most in 2022?
Kristen: This is hard to answer, because generally that answer is all of the restaurants I’ve written reviews for — and I don’t think that’s what you’re looking for. However, research aside, the restaurants I frequent most often when we have free nights are Fin & Fino, Intermezzo, Dogwood, Optimist Hall, and Supperland.

Q: What’s the best restaurant in Matthews?
Kristen: Santé or The Loyalist Market! Both bring guests very different experiences but excellent food and service.

Q: Just moved here from Texas. What are the best five Mexican restaurants in Charlotte?
Kristen: At the top of my list are Tacos el Nevado and Tamales la Pasadita. Taqueria Los Altos and La Ceiba Bar & Grill come recommended from chefs. If you’re looking for great tacos, try Tacos La Hidalguense.

Q: What’s in store for 2023?
Kristen: For UP? Lots! More stories, for starters, and reviews. We’ll also continue offering at least one event per month, and we’ll be bringing back a favorite of mine: our Meat & Potatoes dinner! Stay tuned for all the excitement, and thanks for being there on this ride with us.
