Q&A: Meal kits and phase 2.5
Each week, we answer your questions about food and drink
Q: What does phase 2.5 mean for restaurants?
UP: Not much, really. The 11 p.m. curfew for alcohol sales is still in place, and social distancing and mask wearing are still required in restaurants. The biggest change for restaurants actually came from Mecklenburg County this week. The county announced that they would be changing their proclamation to better align with the Governor’s executive order, and one of those changes was that restaurants can now seat diners at the bar. As of now, phase 2.5 will be in place until Oct. 2.
Q: Are any restaurants offering meal kits like Hello, Fresh?
UP: Yes! Chef Alyssa’s Kitchen is now offering virtual cooking classes that include ingredients. Former executive chef of The Porter’s House Rob Clement is also leading virtual cooking classes with ingredient boxes with his new business, Piedmont’s Bounty. Yelp Charlotte has also put together a collection of meal kits from local restaurants, ranging from pizza to cake pops.
