    Q&A: Macarons, cocktails, and appetizers

Each week, we answer your questions about food and drink in Charlotte

Macarons from Wentworth & Fenn among a spread of other pastry offerings. Kristen Wile/UP

Q: Where can I get some good macarons in Charlotte?
Kristen: My favorite are the ones at Wentworth & Fenn! The Camp North End spot offers varying flavors. If you’re looking for a rainbow of macarons, though, head to Renaissance Patisserie in South Park. Other good options are Villani’s Bakery or Amelie’s.

Q: I need a private chef for an event. Any suggestions?
Kristen: Yes, three, in alphabetical order: Michael Bowling of The Hot Box; Sam Diminich of Your Farms, Your Table; and Patrick Garrivier of Patrick’s Gourmet.

Kristen: This is my favorite kind of spot! If you’re looking for wine, the front room of The Bohemian has comfortable seating and low tables. The Artisan’s Palate is another low-key, warm environment with great appetizers and cocktails. On the other side of town, Lincoln Street Kitchen & Cocktails in South End would be a great fit. If you’re in Uptown, I’d suggest heading to The Public House.
