    Q&A: Hot Box opening, CW+F picks, beer releases

    Each week, we answer reader questions about food and drink in Charlotte


    Q: Do you have an updated timeline for The Hot Box’s opening in South End?
    Kristen: Sure do! According to chef/owner Michael Bowling, all the equipment is in! He’s hoping to open later this month, but by May 15 is more likely. For those who haven’t read our earlier coverage, The Hot Box is opening a ghost kitchen in South End.

    Q: What are your top three “must go” events for Charlotte Wine + Food Week?
    Tom: A number of events for CW+F are already sold out, but looking at their website of what’s still available: 1) The Grand Tasting at the Wells Fargo atrium on April 21 is essentially a street fair of fine wines – over 100, in fact. 2) The Bubble Brunch on April 23 at Uptown’s Carillon Tower garden terrace lets you explore the sparkling world of Domaine Chandon. 3) For a little something different, check out the sake pairing dinner at Fin & Fino on April 20. All are cool events and also help raise funds for ensure area children receive a full and proper education regardless of economic situation.

    Q: Will you be doing a list of beer releases for April?
    Kristen: Yes! We hope to publish that next week — stay tuned! Brian is planning on writing one each month going forward.
