Q&A: Great cocktails, the best margaritas
Each week, we answer reader questions about food and drink in Charlotte
Q: Secret (not for long) place to get great cocktails?
Kristen: Fairweather has the same quality of drinks as sister concept Idlewild, with a much more extensive food menu. I also think that people have forgotten how good the offerings are at Haberdish now that sister concept Supperland is around. I’m also excited to see what Kel Minton is doing over at The Royal Tot; his new menu recently launched following the Sippin’ Santa pop-up.
Q: Best margarita in town?
Kristen: I’m not a huge tequila fan, but I have always enjoyed the margaritas I’ve gotten at Fin & Fino. Tom suggests RuRu’s for a more extensive list. His favorite is the Mortimer Duke: Patron Reposado, lime juice, agave, and cointreau. This seemed like a good question for Travis, too, and his answer is this: “Three Amigos is pretty damn good. But for the price and sheer size there’s nothing more satisfying than a margarita at Azteca alongside an asado mi rancho meal.” We also have a list of great tips from bartenders we did a while back if you’d like to make one at home!
