Q&A: Fourth of July takeout, meals with an exec
Each week, we answer your questions about food and drink in Charlotte
Q: What places are doing 4th of July meal kits this year?
Kristen: I haven’t seen all that many yet. Table & Twine has released their menu. As always, you can order barbecue in family-style sizes from Midwood Smokehouse, Noble Smoke, and Sweet Lew’s. Something Classic usually offers a barbecue package, but they haven’t released anything just yet. I’ve confirmed Chef Alyssa’s Kitchen will also be doing a Fourth of July cookout menu, but will have more information on that later. We’ll put this question back here next week with any more updates we see!

Cocktails at the bar at Yunta in South End. Kristen Wile/UP
Q: I have a very high level executive coming to town next week, and the two of us are going to have dinner together. Do you have a few suggestions? He would really be into The Crunkleton vibe, but they are fully booked. I know you really like Bardo, but they have many reservations available, I’m nervous that it would be the two of us doing a tasting practically alone in the dining room.
Kristen: Yes, I agree Bardo is a bit much for a work dinner. If it’s going to be a casual meal that’s more bonding time than work talk, I’d say the bar at Fin & Fino would be a good spot — the bar program is fantastic, and the food is always great, too. Jon and I went to Yunta for the first time last night, and I was really impressed with everything there from the decor to the food and beverage programs. They have some nice two-person booths that would likely work well for your purpose. I’d also suggest Supperland, and if he’s more into cocktails than food, you can snag a seat at the bar next to the main dining room — there is a limited menu there, however. PARA is another good choice, though it might be a bit loud for a work meal. I would have said Dot Dot Dot, but they’re closed right now for maintenance. Their new chef is doing great things.
