Q&A: Best bourbon cocktails, Nova’s Bakery
Each week, we answer your questions about food and drink in Charlotte
Q: What are some of the best bourbon cocktails in Charlotte?
Kristen: I’m a big bourbon drinker and am always ordering bourbon cocktails, so I’ll share a few of my favorites right now. Dot Dot Dot’s The Richardson is spirit-forward and complex but smooth. It’s made with bourbon, sherry, amaro, and bitters, and is available to-go. If you’re looking for something different, Eli Privette is doing some out-there seasonal cocktails at Dogwood — and they’re working well. Try Feeling Corny, bourbon washed with corn milk, corn silk tea, and corn husk orgeat. For a classic, head to Haberdish for a barrel-aged Manhattan.
Q: Do you know what’s going in the old Nova’s Bakery space?
Kristen: Yes, unfortunately it’s a chain concept: Marble Slab Creamery. You can read more about that in Charlotte Agenda.
Q: I’m getting ready to plant my garden. Who has great fruit and vegetable seedlings?
Kristen: My suggestions are to check out what Windcrest Organic Farm and Renfrow Farms have available. The Patio Farmer will also deliver plants from Windcrest to your home if you’d prefer to stay with your hands in the dirt.
