Q&A: Bar à Vins update, Chinese food in town

Each week, we answer your questions about food and drink in Charlotte

Q: Any updates for the opening of wine bar (Bar à Vins) in NoDa?
Kristen: Yes! I reached out to co-owner Natalie Stewart, and she says they’re in the home stretch. Permits are set, wine is coming in the door, and according to Stewart, it’s down to the details. There isn’t an exact opening date yet, but she says to expect it to be within the next couple of weeks.

Q: Where can we find decent (or better!) Chinese food?
Kristen: I’m assuming for this one you’re looking for less Americanized options, but if that’s not the case, correct me and I’ll adjust next week. Tom, who is now managing our social media and passed this question along, says the answer to this better include Taste of SHU. Another favorite is Lam’s Kitchen in Matthews, if that’s close to where you live. Dim Sum lives on at Dragon Court in East Charlotte’s Asian Corner Mall. Also in Matthews is Li’s Noodles. And, of course, there is Charlotte favorite The Dumpling Lady, available at both Optimist Hall and Resident Culture Brewing — the latter as a food truck residency. I’ve also enjoyed delivery from ghost kitchen Sun’s Kitchen, out of The City Kitch.
