Q&A: Asheville suggestions, cheesesteak updates
Each week, we answer reader questions about food and drink in Charlotte
Q: Do you know if Chuck’s Cheesesteaks ever opened a retail location? Looks like they’re food truck only. How about Cheat’s?
Kristen: I don’t believe so, but I’ve reached out to check in with Chuck’s. They’re parked at 3900 Brookshire Boulevard on a regular schedule. Cheat’s is once again stuck in permitting delays, if you can believe that, but are still moving forward. They signed the lease last May and have been battling paperwork since.

Q: Any recommendations for a trip to Asheville?
Kristen: I’m definitely more of a beach person than a mountain one, so I checked in with Travis for this one. His suggestions: Benne on Eagle, Storm Rhum Bar, Vivian, Zambra, Jettie Rae’s Oyster House, Table, and Nine Mile. For breakfast, he says to check out Biscuit Head or Sunny Point Café. For drinks, Sovereign Remedies is a staff favorite. Other options are Red Stag Grill or the Grove Park lobby. An obvious omission from this list are common suggestions Curate and Chai Pani, solely because getting reservations are incredibly difficult these days.
