Our top five New Year’s Eve dinners
Here’s where you can still get reservations
New Year’s Eve is one of the most popular restaurant nights of the year, and reservations are going quickly. Some of our favorites — like The Fig Tree and The Stanley — are already booked up, so you need to act fast if you haven’t made plans yet. Jon and I might try our luck sitting at a bar, as we’ll also be celebrating our fifth wedding anniversary. Here are five of the restaurants that are serving menus we’re impressed by — and still have tables available. —Kristen Wile
Stagioni: Four Seasons of Food
Chef Eric Ferguson is one of the most underrated chefs in the city, and his New Year’s menu shows off his talents. With four courses and options including cauliflower soup with caviar and porchetta, you’ll ring in the new year with a fantastic feast. A few late reservations remain. $85 plus tax and tip.
Bardo Restaurant
Mint Street restaurant Bardo celebrates modern cooking and creative dishes, a combination most people seek out for special occasions. Though Bardo serves one of the best meals in town on any given night, chef Mike Noll goes over the top on the nights they serve tasting menus. New Year’s Eve brings six courses served during two seating times, with cocktail pairings by Amanda Britton. $168 plus tax.
Dot Dot Dot
Fittingly to bring in 2020, Dot Dot Dot is hosting a Roaring ’20s-inspired New Year’s Celebration. RSVP for a four-course dinner, or buy tickets to a late-night celebration with hors d’oeuvres and era-appropriate cocktails. $150 per event plus tax and tip.
Peppervine
Only early reservations still remain at one of the most consistent restaurants in Charlotte. SouthPark restaurant Peppervine will be serving a four-course menu in celebration of New Year’s Eve. With one of the best-selected cellars in town, this is a great restaurant for the wine lover. $95 plus tax and tip.
Haymaker
Dining with a vegetarian? Uptown restaurant Haymaker’s three-course menu includes the option of a roasted cauliflower steak as a main course. With three reservation times, you can enjoy dinner before heading out to the packed bars along Tryon Street, or hang around in the restaurant’s bar area until the ball drops. $65 plus tax and tip.
Bonus brunch: Hello, Sailor
We get it, restaurants are insanely crowded on New Year’s Eve, and service can sometimes feel rushed. Hello, Sailor is serving a New Year’s Day brunch for those who want to spend the first moments of the new year with friends and family. Nab a reservation for Hello, Sailor’s brunch buffet to help nurse your hangover. $35.
