Original Amélie’s moving near NoDa Brewing
The new space will be ready next spring

The original location of Amélie’s French Bakery & Cafe is moving. The long-standing bakery will relocate into a bigger space on 36th Street, near the light rail. The new bakery will be near NoDa Brewing.
The move is the culmination of a longtime dispute between Amélie’s and the bakery’s landlords at the current North Davidson Street space. Amélie’s opened there back in 2008, and drew Charlotte diners in with a vibrant, quirky interior and traditional French pastries. It has since expanded to have five additional locations, including ones in Uptown and Park Road Shopping Center. Brenda Ische, one of the restaurant owners and the mind behind the restaurant’s design, will bring that same feel to the new space.
The new version of the original location will have a larger seating area and patio and individual work stations. It will remain open 24-7. The current timeline for opening is Spring 2020. The original location is expected to remain in operation until the new space is ready to open to customers. —Kristen Wile
