Djordje Avramovic’s Mediterranean market concept will soon open at 2212 The Plaza in the former Segan Food Mart space. Renovation of the 3,500 square foot space is in its final stages and Avramovic and his wife, Carol Austin, hope to open their doors in March.

The concept will have a retail market with items like frozen restaurant quality meals, dried pastas, salad dressings, and a selection of beer and wine alongside a restaurant concept with a Mediterranean-focused tapas style menu. Offerings will include pizza and craft cocktails from the indoor/outdoor bar that opens up to the patio.

Avramovic and Austin have worked to keep some of the original touches of the 1970s building in place, with the vintage Pepsi sign and a green vintage cooler in the building that they chose to restore rather than replace.

Avramovic, formerly of Intermezzo, has had this project in the works for quite some time and is looking forward to finally bringing his stand alone concept to the neighborhood. “We are partnering on this project together, but Djorgie is absolutely the face of the restaurant,” Austin says. ” “I couldn’t think of a better person to be in that position. I don’t think I’ve ever met anybody that is better at what he does.”
