    Last-minute holiday treats

    There’s still time to snap up some festive baked goods

    Not that anyone really needs an excuse, but the holidays are “the” time to indulge in a multitude of sweet treats. Here are our picks for where you can still preorder or walk in and pick up your holiday cookies, cakes, pies, and other pastries of the season.

    Note the ordering deadlines where applicable.

    You can pre-order boxes of “Nonna’s Secret Recipe” Italian specialty cookies, which contain, pizzelles, lemon, sugar, hot chocolate chip, snickerdoodles, and Italian christmas cookies. Small, $24. Large, $45. Pickup on December 22 and 23. Preorder here.

    You can purchase a wide variety of seasonal cookies, such as candy cane thumbprints and pies, such as the I-40 (pecans, chocolate chips, and coconut). Preorder here. Walk-in purchases are also available (selection may vary).

    Honeybear Bake Shop, Wesley Heights
    2022 UPPY Pastry Chef finalist Hannah Neville is selling standard ($28) and gluten-free ($20) boxes of holiday cookies with such flavor as eggnog crème brûlée and Oreo peppermint bark. Preorder deadline is 8 a.m. December 21, with pickups 4-6 p.m., December 22 at Matthews Farmers Market or 9 a.m.-5.p.m. December 23 at The City Kitch. Preorder here.

    La Belle Helene, Uptown
    The Uptown restaurant is taking Bûche de Noël preorders through December 21 for pickup on December 23-24. This French classic consisting of chocolate sponge cake with vanilla buttercream and chocolate ganache with a fresh cranberries garnish serves 4-6. $50.00.

    Manolo’s Bakery, Windsor Park
    You’ll find a number of seasonal Latin baked goods at 2022 UPPY UPstanding Person of the Year Manolo Betancur’s the shop on Central Avenue. You can also preorder specialties such as tres leche and passion fruit cakes.

    Milk Glass Pie
    Baker Keia Mastrianni is offering a number of holiday baked goods, including eggnog custard with marshmallow meringue pie ($40), brown butter apple pie ($45), and holiday cookie assortments ($25/$45). Preorder deadline is December 21 with pickups on December 23 in Charlotte, Shelby, and Asheville.

    Santé, Matthews
    Chef Adam Reed is taking holiday dessert preorders through December 21 for pick up December 23-24. Goodies include Bûche de Noël, vanilla bourbon pecan pie, apple cranberry pie, and chocolate raspberry cake. Preorder here.

    Suarez Bakery, Montford
    All preorders are sold out, but many holiday and standard pastries are available at the shop in Park Road Shopping Center through Christmas Eve.

    2022 UPPY Pastry Chef of the Year Samantha Allen has special holiday cookie boxes (small / $20, medium / $30, and large / $40) as well as a number of seasonal pastries, including holiday macarons and peppermint fudge tarts.
