Kindred Restaurant owners to open Milkbread
The restaurant will serve casual American fare
Joe and Katy Kindred, owners of renowned Davidson restaurant Kindred Restaurant, are opening a new concept named after their debut restaurant’s most beloved dish. Milkbread will be open all day, and serve milkbread doughnuts, fried chicken, bowls, and salads. The restaurant will also serve private label coffee from Summit Coffee. The restaurant is slated to open later this year.
The concept was inspired by some of Kindred’s most successful takeout dishes during the pandemic. Diners will order at the counter at the restaurant, which is located not far from Kindred at 624 Jetton Street in an upscale strip mall space.
During the pandemic, Katy Kindred also launched a design studio, consulting on residential and commercial interiors in another pandemic pivot. Like Kindred and Hello, Sailor, Katy Kindred will oversee the design of Milkbread. The casual all-day eatery will have a minimalist design.
