James Beard Award nominee Katie Button will give the keynote address at the Piedmont Culinary Guild’s annual symposium in March.
Button has made the renowned culinary award’s shortlist twice, in 2014 for Rising Star Chef of the Year and again in 2018 as one of the foundation’s Best Chefs in America. She has also been named a semifinalist twice. Button owns two restaurants, Curate and Nightbell. Both are in Asheville.
The Piedmont Culinary Guild, a local nonprofit dedicated to advocating for local chefs and farmers, hosts a conference each year with panels, workshops, and speakers. Button’s keynotes will center on missions important to the guild, including integrity in sourcing, maintaining food traditions of the Southeast, and maintaining a talented staff.
This year’s symposium will take place on March 17 at Johnson & Wales University. Tickets are on sale now, and are open to the public. —Kristen Wile
