This weekend, The Goodyear House will host its first annual Pigs & Pearls Party, a fundraiser aimed at bringing in enough money to send staff to assist building a school in Nicaragua. The fundraiser is a culmination of The Goodyear House’s efforts to provide a school in a remote village of Nicaragua through BuildOn, a nonprofit that works to reduce poverty through education in developing nations.
The event will take place on Sunday, April 3 from 2 to 6 p.m. on The Goodyear House’s Greenhouse patio. Included in the $35 ticket price are a pulled pork plate with sides, three raw oysters with fixings, and one beer or glass of wine, with additional drink tickets available for purchase. For entertainment, there will be live music, a 50/50 raffle, and a silent auction with tasting experiences hosted by Goodyear House chef Chris Coleman and a print from chef-turned-photographer Ryan Allen on the auction block. 100 percent of the proceeds from the event will fund the team’s trip to Nicaragua.
Through the reservation fees on the outdoor dining igloos — coveted outdoor dining locations during the pandemic — The Goodyear House raised $30,000 to build the school. 100 percent of the reservation fees needed to secure an igloo were collected for the purpose. Sunday’s fundraiser will help cover the costs of sending employees of The Goodyear House and Yellow Duck Marketing to help with the actual build.
