Order/Fire, the food and drink mini-documentary series, will premiere its fourth season at Free Range Brewing in NoDa on Tuesday, Oct. 2. The series, by food photographer Peter Taylor and chef Marc Jacksina, consists of 25-minute episodes featuring local chefs and purveyors sitting down for a Q&A with Jacksina. Restaurateur Frank Scibelli, owner of Mama Ricotta’s, Yafo Kitchen, Paco’s Tacos, and Midwood Smokehouse, will be the first guest of the season. Taylor calls Scibelli a “powerhouse” in the city.

“Pretty much everybody in town has eaten at one of his restaurants at some point in their life,” Taylor says. “We think he’s a very compelling person.”

This season will have eight episodes: seven Order/Fires and one Drink Order, the bartender version of Order/Fire that’s hosted by Bob Peters.

The show was born out of a lunch between Taylor, Jacksina, and Heirloom chef/owner Clark Barlowe. Taylor was so captivated by the chefs’ candid conversation, he believed others would be interested in hearing it, too. The result is an honest discussion that highlights the “human ingredient,” what Jacksina and Taylor call the people behind our restaurants. As host, Jacksina helps keep the conversation from getting too deep into culinary speak, pausing to explain terms or processes viewers may not be familiar with.

The monthly Sunday screenings begin at 1 p.m., with a social hour beginning a noon. During that hour, the show’s guest will serve food samples. There is also a raffle each screening, usually an experience at the restaurant being featured, with proceeds from the raffle going to charity. The premiere, however, will take place on a Tuesday night, with social hour beginning at 6 p.m., after being pushed back from its original date during Hurricane Florence.

This year, Order/Fire will also host monthly industry night events at Free Range Brewing, selling food cooked on a Big Green Egg at a low price with proceeds also going to charity. The Monday night dinners will be cooked by guests chefs.
