Dressler’s in Birkdale will close on Sunday for a complete renovation of the restaurant. The restaurant has been open for a whopping 15 years now, and owner Jon Dressler says it was simply time for an update.
“The restaurant still looks good, but it’s 15 years old and we certainly plan on being there for 15 more years,” Dressler says. “The thought process behind that was, ‘Here’s the opportunity for us to just freshen the place.’ ”
The wood will be re-stained, the carpets redone, the walls repainted, new artwork hung, and all of the furniture will be replaced. And all of it will take place between this Sunday and Thanksgiving Day. There are two crews scheduled to work 16 hours a day on the renovations to get them done by Nov. 23.
The restaurant celebrated its 15th anniversary on Sept. 22.
“It’s been really special for us to have the support of the neighborhood — Huntersville, Cornelius, Denver, Davidson, Concord, just that whole reach that we have — and to watch people grow up and go through life has been a real blessing personally,” Dressler says.
The restaurant’s menu is also undergoing significant changes, though the restaurant’s classics will remain on. Dressler’s is expected to reopen on Black Friday. —Kristen Wile
