Chefs share their Christmas wish lists

Gift like a pro this holiday season

When Santa comes to town this year, he’ll be carrying a lot of kitchen equipment. That is, if these chefs are on his nice list. Shopping for a home cook or foodie friend this year? Here’s what the pros are hoping to get for Christmas and Hanukah.

    Siggy Sollitto
Chef and owner, Siggy’s Good Food

A Cuisinart food processor. Perhaps the New York transplant has a bigger home kitchen here in Charlotte.

    Mike Long
    Executive chef, The Asbury

A Le Creuset dutch oven, Suisin Inox Petty Knife, and an 8,000-grit sharpening stone.

    Mike Rouleau
    Executive chef, La Belle Helene

“I have a slight obsession with expensive hand-made American made cooking tools,” Rouleau says. “I would give Santa the website eatingtools.com and tell him to go nuts, I’ve already spent way too much money there.”

    Blake Hartwick
    Executive chef, Bonterra
A short list wish list, with some big items: a blast freezer and a Moberg smoker.

    Drew Dodd
    Executive chef, Stagioni

“I’m a sucker for kitchen gadgets (and a new father),” Dodd says. On his list: the prep and cook food processor by All-Clad, the KitchenAid precise heat mixing bowl, and the Beaba Babycook Plus Cloud. Awww.

    Chris Coleman
    Executive chef, Stoke

Line cooks for me and all of my friends, Coleman says. Sorry, chef, not even Santa can pull that off in the current restaurant climate.

    Jamie Barnes
Chef and co-owner, What the Fries food truck
Gyuto-style knives, a sous vide machine, a Big Green Egg, set of spices from Spiceology, Tilit Contra chef apron, and Edna Lewis cookbooks.
