Ann Marie Stefaney, a local pastry chef known for her work at Heirloom Restaurant, will be a cast member on Welcome to Waverly, a four-part Bravo series premiering on October 22.
The premise of the show brings professionals from big cities to the small town of Waverly, Kansas, with a population of 563 people. Each of the seven professionals selected for the show stand out from this mostly white, heterosexual town; Stefaney, for example, is openly gay.
For the duration of the show, each professional was paired with someone doing a similar job in Waverly; Stefaney worked with the owner of a pie shop in Waverly. In the series’ preview, it looks like she hits it off with her baking colleague, which doesn’t surprise us given Stefaney’s kind and outgoing personality.
Stefaney and the others lived in Waverly for six weeks, and at the end, the show’s founder hopes to lessen the political divide between residents of rural parts of the country and big American cities. The other castmembers include a black chef from Chicago, a Muslim politician from Minneapolis, and a Los Angeles hairstylist.
Funny enough, since returning from filming, Stefaney has been helping out at The Porter’s House, a restaurant in Charlotte’s Waverly development.
See the show’s preview below. The first episode airs on Oct. 22 at 10 p.m., and the three following episodes will be aired Oct. 23, Oct. 24, and Oct. 25 also at 10 p.m. —Kristen Wile
