Add Anthony Denning to the long list of Charlotte-area chefs to demonstrate their skills on the Food Network. The chef and owner of 2022 UPPY “Food Truck of the Year” finalist Another!? Food Truck, will appear on Chopped on Tuesday, November 8 at 8 p.m.

Denning will appear in Season 53, Episode 2 entitled “More Cheese, Please!”. According to the show notes on the Food Network website, “The chefs find cheese in every basket and have to make it the star of every plate. They impress the judges with their talent and speed in the appetizer round, raising expectations for the courses to come, and a wild comfort food hybrid proves challenging in round two. The final two chefs take some risks in the dessert round, but will their sweetly cheesy desserts come together in time?”

While Denning can’t talk specifics about his episode before it airs, he did speak about his overall time on the long running popular TV show.

“The experience was great and exactly the way it’s promoted,” Denning says. “I view Chopped as the Super Bowl for young chefs. I was just excited to compete and be on a show I grew up watching. The filming was very tedious and long, but fun at the same time.”

Denning joins a number of Charlotte chefs who have competed on Food Network shows, including Luca Annunziata, forchetta; Chris Coleman, The Goodyear House / Old Town Kitchen & Cocktails; Alyssa Wilen, Chef Alyssa’s Kitchen, Sam Diminich, Your Farms Your Table / Restaurant Constance; Lisa Brooks, Heart & Soul; and others.

Since the episode was filmed a few months ago, Denning has stayed in touch with his Chopped competitors. “I’ve built a relationship with the other competitors and speak to them often,” he says. “Overall, it was just a great time where we all got to cook and represent ourselves on a national stage.”
