Canned red wines for your end of summer picnics
Our five picks include a barrel-aged red blend
This summer I have reviewed and picked my top spritzers and white wines by the can. For the end of summer I have my picks for canned red wines. Remember, this summer I’m on a mini-quest to find the best canned wines, spritzers, and cocktails. My only rule is the product must be accessible in North Carolina. These are my preferred canned red wines for summer; stay tuned for my pick of canned cocktails. —Justin Burke-Samson

Pinot Noir
A classic red with subtle fruit flavors including plum and cherry with a mild hint of spice.
Babe

A crisp and refreshing wine with a hint of bubbles. This flavorful wine is packed with fruity melon flavors with a mild earthy note.
Barrelhouse
Bourbon Red Blend
Aged for three months in bourbon barrels, this California blend has warm notes of vanilla and clove with the bourbon flavors of caramel and coffee. This is a great wine for late summer nights around the fire.
Marvel

A complex red blend that is fruit forward with mild sweetness and spice. This full-bodied blend pairs well with pizza, tacos, or takeout Chinese for casual summer night dinners.
Bollicini
Lambrusco
This semi-sweet and refreshing wine proves to be more than a winter favorite. Packed with flavor and a little effervescent, this red is a good wine during the summer to fall transition.
