Bistro La Bon opening second location

The new restaurant will be a smaller version of the Plaza Midwood original

Bistro La Bon is opening a second location in Cotswold Village. General manager Miguel Cabeda says the target opening date is the first week of November, although that’s an aggressive timeline. It will more likely be mid-November or even December before the restaurant opens in the former Namastay Kitchen space, near Y2 Yoga.

“It’s going to be a Bistro on a smaller scale,” Cabeda says. The Cotswold space will fit 35 diners inside and another 35 on the patio. The original Bistro La Bon is in Plaza Midwood, in the shopping center near the train tracks. The restaurant is known for a globally-inspired selection of small plates and entrees.

The Cotswold menu will be a smaller version of the original, and executive chef Kevin Samuel will oversee the kitchens at both locations. The cocktail and wine lists will also be condensed versions of the originals. Bistro La Bon Cotswold will be open for both lunch and dinner; Cabeda says they’re expecting the new location to have a heavy lunch rush.

The interior is being renovated to mimic the vibe at the Plaza Midwood location, adding in more wood accents to the bright space and adding quirky bistro décor. Installing the point-of-sale system is one the last remaining pieces before opening. Cosmetic work on the space has been ongoing for about a month. If all goes well with this location, Bistro La Bon may continue growing.

“We’re testing the waters, just seeing if it’s something that can potentially expand,” Cabeda says, “but we also want to make sure we don’t go way off the concept.” —Kristen Wile
